Assumptions and limitations

  • Monthly contributions are added at the end of each month.
  • The selected annual rate is divided by 12 and compounded monthly.
  • No fees, charges or taxes are deducted.
  • Inflation is not included, so the result is not shown in today’s money.
  • Real investments can fall as well as rise. Returns vary and you could get back less than you invest.

This is an illustrative example, not a forecast or personal financial advice.

How the illustration works

A worked example

Start with €1,000, add €100 at each month-end for 10 years, and use the 5% annual scenario. Total contributions are €13,000. Monthly compounding produces €4,175.24 of illustrative growth and an illustrative value of €17,175.24.

The 5% rate is a teaching scenario only. It does not represent an expected return, an available SIA product or a recommended investment.
